Q:  In Google, if someone types in one of my main keyword phrases, I want to make sure that my site will show up on the 1st page results EVERY time, guaranteed. Is that possible?

A: Now, at first when I read this question I thought it might be better suited for the SEO FAQs and not PPC; however, I did confirm that we were talking about Google AdWords. So, the short answer here is, “Yes;” however, I have to state that with Google or any other search engine, nothing is guaranteed. By this I mean that although you may have a particular keyword in your ad groups, and you’re willing to pay whatever the going bid price might be for that term, there are other factors in play here that determine whether you ad might be shown on the first page or 10th page. One such factor is Google’s famed Quality Score. Basically, in order for your ad to show up on the first page you have to have a high enough quality score which is directly tied in to how relevant your ad is to the keyword query and then how relevant the landing page is to your ad. Also keep in mind that depending on your industry, you may or may not have a lot of competition; and, there is only room enough room on the search results page for up to 10 ads. So, it could be tough at first for your ads to show up but if your are persistent and write compelling, relevant ads that draw in your target audience, you will start to get a higher click-through rate or CTR. This is another important factor in determining your ad position. Google will reward those ads that get clicks. After all, that’s how Google makes its money, right?  So, If all of this is in sync, and you’ve bid enough, then you will more than likely show up on the first page. But, like I said, it’s not guaranteed.
